On 21 December 2024, the penultimate Saturday of the year, the Police Orchestra performed the traditional Christmas-New Year concert, carrying the audience into the magic of the holiday spirit with harmonious melodies.

Speaking before the concert, the Director General Director of the Police Senad Jušić expressed his appreciation that such a large audience had gathered in the beautiful Cankarjev dom to take a moment of respite from their daily commitments. He said that December is not a relaxed month anymore, and is instead filled with commitments and very stressful. He pointed out that the main purpose of holidays is to recall what truly matters in life – to be healthy and surrounded by our loved ones, to help each other and treat each other with respect.

Duo Maraaya joins the always excellent Police Orchestra this year

The Police Orchestra performed a festive holiday repertoire. After the Christmas overture, Maraaya took to the stage and the audience could no longer sit still. The charismatic singer Marjetka's performance of the song Nebesa (Heaven) brought the whole Gallus hall to its feet! The audience clapped along and swayed to the rhythm of the vocal performance by the excellent singer, who was accompanied on the keyboard by her life and musical partner Raay. Our Police Orchestra provided the icing on the cake of the performance as its conductor Nejc Bečan composed the musical arrangements for the popular duo's compositions.

After jumping to heaven with the music guests and making wishes come true with the goldfish, Maraaya left the stage to our orchestra, which wrapped up the evening in style – with a loud applause and several returns of the conductor for bows. The orchestra played three pieces for the encore as a testimony to the success of the evening.
