The General Policing Division is responsible for the areas of public order and the safeguarding of lives, personal safety and the property of people.
Thus, it organizes monitors, supervises and if necessary, coordinates the work of operative units, providing them with professional assistance in maintaining the public order through the implementation of legislation on weapons and explosives, public gatherings and meetings of people, registration and de-registration of residence, implementation of regulations regarding private security and detective activities. It analyses and evaluates the efficiency of police work in the field of general personal and property security, i.e. at airports, sea ports and swimming areas, the sea and inner waters, in the mountains, ski resorts and on the railway. It performs tasks in connection with suicides, sudden deaths, occupational accidents, drownings, search activities, natural and other disasters, fires, environmental protection and security of nuclear facilities.
In addition to the aforementioned, the Division also manages, trains, monitors and assesses the success of the work of special police units (SPUs). It coordinates the use of service horses and ensures the training of mounted police officers and service dog handlers.
Within its field of work, it prepares or takes part in the preparation of regulations and expert instructions, planning of measures and supplementation of tactics and methods used in police work. It also cooperates with other State bodies, foreign security bodies and institutions and international organisations in its work. The division also participates in the processing of data, preparation of computer applications and communicating information in these areas of work to the public.
Public Order Section
- analyses and evaluates security situations and the success and effectiveness of police work in the areas of public order and peace, safeguarding of lives, personal safety and the property of people (maintenance of public order and peace; weapons, explosive substances and pyrotechnics; gatherings and meeting of people - public protests, public events, sports events, protests; registration and de-registration of residence);
- directs and coordinates the work of police directorates in its field of work, whenever coordination of operations is required in a wider region,
- ensures professional assistance and supervises the legality and effectiveness of police work in its field of work,
- participates in the supplementation of tactics and methods of police work (surveillance, patrols, assistance, interventions, blockading of areas, security actions, etc.) in its area of work,
- ensures the implementation of regulations regarding its field of work, prepares professional instructions and plans and executes measures for the effective operation of the Police and
- cooperates in the development and monitoring of computer applications and the collection and processing of data from its field of work.
General Safety and Security Planning Section
- analyses and evaluates the security situation, successfulness and effectiveness of police work in the field of public order and safeguarding lives, personal safety and property of people and personal security and detective activities (security at airports and airfields, seaports, public beaches and inland waters, in the mountains and on ski slopes and on the railway. It also performs tasks connected with suicides, sudden deaths, occupational accidents, drownings, search activities, natural disasters and other accidents, fires, environmental protection and security of nuclear facilities,
- analyses, evaluates and coordinates work with service police animals;
- directs and coordinates the work of police directorates in its field of work whenever
- coordinated operations are required in a wider region;
- ensures supervision over subjects involved in personal security and detective activities and manages and directs the supervision activity,
- ensures professional assistance and monitors the legality and effectiveness of police work in its field of work,
- participates in the supplementation of police work tactics and methods in its field of work,
- ensures the implementation of legislation in its field of work, prepares professional instructions and plans and implements measures for effective police operations,
- participates in the development and adaptation of computer applications and in the collection and processing of data in its field of work.
