On Saturday, 17 November 2012, Director General of the Police Stanislav Veniger and State Secretary Barbara Brezigar attended a ceremony to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims at the Ljubljana Town Hall.
On the same evening Deputy Director General of the Police Karol Turk and Director of Celje Police Directorate Jože Senica attended an outdoor event in Celje, where they lit candles in the memory of road casualties.
By lighting candles on Saturday people remembered all the dead and injured in road accidents. This year, 119 people have died on Slovenian roads, and 740 have been seriously injured. Behind these dry statistics, which do not even touch people any more, there is so much suffering, so many tragic life stories that is almost impossible to imagine, said Director General of the Police Stanislav Veniger.
