Slovenia is introducing the Passenger Locator Form for passengers travelling by airplane and ship on 16 August to facilitate contact tracing. Every passenger will be aksed to fill out his or her own form, including passengers travelling together as a family or in a group. Passengers in transit, who will remain in the airport's transit area (unless they should decide to leave the airport area for whatever reason) and airplane or ship crewmembers will not be required to fill out the form.
Passenger Locator Forms (PLFs) are used by public health authorities to facilitate contact tracing in case travellers are exposed to the Covid-19 infectious disease during their travel. Information that travellers provide in PLFs will be used by the department for epidemiology at the Slovenian National Institute for Public Health to rapidly contact travellers and their contacts, with the goal of protecting their health, as well as preventing further disease spread.
Passengers travelling by air or sea can fill out the form.
Passengers travelling by land (bus, train or automobile) do not have to fill out the form.
More information on the dPLF, which is currently non-mandatory (though recommended), can be found on the website of the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ). The police do not check, collect or process information provided in dPLF forms. The purpose of the dPLF is to make it easier for NIJZ to track and trace travellers in case of an infection and to facilitate and speed up data collection and sharing through the Early Warning and Response System of the European Union (EWRS) data sharing platform, making contact tracing in the EU more efficient.
