Upon handing over work to her successor, Tatjana Bobnar noted that, for a year and a half, she led the Slovenian Police Force with honour, using her best efforts and knowledge and always working with best intentions for the people. “I am proud to have been supported by a great team of co-workers with whom we worked 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making our best efforts to support police officers and our citizens. I am proud to have represented more than 8000 police officers and other police officials who - regardless of the circumstances - perform their daily work and carry out their tasks with excellence even in the toughest of times. For this I thank you all. People like you make Slovenia a safe country. Our citizens know that they can always rely on the police and it is not surprising that the police are ranked the highest among national institutions in terms of public support and trust.

Tatjana Bobnar also noted: “The police must never waste public trust because without it the police would be a dead letter. Residents of Slovenia need a police organisation that they can rely on. This police force is professional, prudent, upright, courageous, effective, respectful of the human rights of each individual, regardless of his or her personal situation and regardless of the fact that such an individual may not be a member of the majority population. I wish the Slovenian police good luck as I also wish the Acting Director General of the Police every success in his work.”

Anton Travner, LLM, who is temporarily assuming office as Acting Director General of the Police, shares Bobnar's opinion and sees the police force as a great family of police officers who serve with courage and dedication and are ready to take the risk and even give their lives in the line of duty every single day. “It was in 1985 that I joined this family and it is a great honour for me to be entrusted with this position today so I can work for the benefit of the whole community” said the new chief of the police upon taking over one of the largest national organisations.
